Shell Pointe

12″ x 9″ plein air oil painting on a canvas panel

In the afternoon of our third day, Phyllis, Beth and I found the Coatan National Forest.  It was gorgeous.  We selected sites and began to set up.  The forest rangers stopped by to tell us about an alligator, and it was beginning to rain so we headed back to the covered fishing pier at Shell Pointe.

I painted this looking toward the shore.  Unfortunately we forgot about the time, and the person on duty at the property didn’t notice that we came back after lunch.  She locked the gate and went home.  Fortunately, a kind photographer noticed us painting and called her.  She returned to unlock the gate so we could get out.  Thank you.  We didn’t have to spend the night with the alligators, etc. afterall.

One more day left for our plein air painting adventure.  I’ll post about it tomorrow.
