Japanese Maple

8″ x 10″ plein air oil painting on a cradled 3/4″ board with black edges

I painted this maple at the grand opening of  the White Heron Gallery in Dunn, NC  this month.     It was a hot day, so I looked for a shady spot.  This colorful tree was in a lawn next door.   I just focused on the tree.  I decided to ignor the other houses, cars, etc. in the background.

It was a great day.  I really enjoyed talking with the customers and getting to know some of the other artists.

  1. I really like the colors in this one!

  2. If you really look you can see lots of colors in things. You just have to be careful to keep the values correct. Thanks.

  3. Dave and I noticed that your paintings are becoming looser!!
