Bull Hole Falls

9″ x 12″ plein air oil painting on a canvas panel

This is the scenic Bull Hole near Cooleemee, NC.  I just put the finishing touches on this afternoon.  As usual when I brought it inside  the painting needed more contrast.  I added darks in the near tree, repainted some of the lights, and softened some of the trees in the distance.

  1. Is this near your house? If it is, Ike would love to see it- he loves waterfalls.

    • It is about 40 minutes away. There were people swimming and fishing there. Personally, I thought it was too dangerous for swimming. It is formed by a dam and the water was moving rapidly downstream.
