View at Dunn’s Mt. Quarry

11″ x 14″ plein air oil painting on a canvas panel

Saturday Plein Air Carolina had the opportunity to paint behind the fences at Dunn’s Mountain Park in Granite Quarry, NC.  It is about five miles from my home.  Transportation was provided to the top.  Shortly after everyone arrived, the skies darkened with afternoon thunder showers.  As it began raining we remained under the shelter at the top hoping that the rain would soon let up.  But that was not the case.

So this painting is the view from the shelter during the rain storm.  Hopefully, PAC will have another opportunity to go behind the fences, and the weather will cooperate next time.   It is a beautiful park with large granite boulders and a small lake.
