Cooleemee Plantation Irises

Cooleemee Plantation Irises 24x3024″ x 30″  Oil on stretched linen

The caretaker informed me that these beautiful irises are also very old.  They were brought from Europe to be planted on one of the terraces below the house.  There were several terraces with steps going down to the fields and river.  This painting is currently in the Preserving Places exhibit/sale at Rail Walk Studios & Gallery in Salisbury, NC.  Artists are donating 40% of sales to the LandTrust of Central NC.
