Red Barn

Red Barn 6x8

6″ x 8″ Oil on panel

This is a study that I did at a workshop given by John Poon on the fundamentals of landscape painting.   We worked from projected images.  The weather was not condusive to outdoor painting.

As I recall, the first day John talked about the steps of painting on site.  First, design and sketch the scene.  Second, block in, looking for light and shadow.  Third, adjust value, color, shape and edges.  Fourth, put on the finishing touches.
